In June 3 of 1960, a new Esther was born. She was born into a humble Mexican family of 14 children of whom only nine would survive and reach adulthood. By all known accounts of those whom knew Esther Soto in life, she was a beautiful soul. Her character as a child and throughout the rest of her life was that of a woman that loved God above all things and always displayed love and affection for others. She was loving, selfless, courageous, and of a humble heart.

She was our beloved mother whom God gave us the tremendous privilege to have 60 years. Our mother served The Lord, the poor, the sick, the elderly and her entire family till her last days. Finally, she carried “the good news”, the gospel of Jesus Christ everywhere she went, and shared it with anyone who would hear willingly and unwillingly.

Yes in 1960 a new Queen Esther was born! This beautiful being displayed the same behavior of Esther the biblical character and beyond throughout her entire life. She was our Queen and she will forever remain our Queen. Her hilarious laughter, overbearing worry, overprotectiveness, daily words of wisdom, daily prayers, continued push for us to serve the Lord and his kingdom, and her unconditional love continue to resonate in our hearts every single day.

This is the history behind the name she was given at birth and what it represents. The name Esther means “Star” and now our star is in heaven. It is through this foundation named after her, that we her children choose to honor her and continue to carry her legacy to love and serve others until us too, get called to be with the Lord and reign with her and Jesus, in the kingdom of heaven.
